The Los Angeles Police Department posted a video late last month of a 52-year-old homeless woman singing in a Los Angeles subway station. The post said, “4 million people call LA home. 4 million stories. 4 million voices…sometimes you just have to stop and listen to one, to hear something beautiful.”
The woman, Emily Zamourka, said she came to the United States from Russia at age 24. She told KABC that she fell into homelessness due to several health setbacks and used to play violin on the streets, but the instrument was stolen three years ago.
Zamourka said she dreams of being able to work in music again.
